Fila plegable

UYC is committed to sustainability as a responsibility, not an afterthought. We aim to minimize the fashion industry's damage to the planet by using better fabrics and ethical production methods. We strive to spark a movement of brands that prioritize the planet over profit, emphasizing transparency and collaboration.

Fila plegable

UYC uses 100% GOTS-certified organic French Terry and Jersey fabrics from Turkey. We also utilize OEKO-TEX certified dyes, which have a lower environmental impact and ensure proper wastewater treatment. Additionally, we are actively seeking alternatives to recycled polyester blends to reduce microplastic pollution.

UYC works with Sedex-certified suppliers in Turkey, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and no child labor. Our manufacturing partner in Ecuador works with independent tailors who are paid market rates and have reasonable working hours. We also support an indigenous-run business in Ecuador, ensuring fair compensation and preserving traditional craftsmanship.

UYC uses recycled cardboard boxes and onionskin paper instead of plastic wraps for their packaging. We also use PVC-free, environmentally friendly stickers. Our packaging is designed for a second life, with boxes that can be repurposed as picture frames or phone speaker amplifiers.

What are UYC's efforts to reduce microplastic pollution?

UYC acknowledges that our woven textiles with patterns currently use recycled polyester blended with conventional cotton and acrylic, which contribute to microplastic pollution. We are actively working with our suppliers to find better alternatives that do not contribute to this issue.

What is the purpose of UYC's transparency regarding their processes?

At UYC, we believe that real change in the fashion industry will only happen through collaboration and shared knowledge. We are transparent about our processes and experiences to encourage other brands to adopt sustainable practices. We do not "gatekeep" information, but rather share it, in order to spark a broader movement towards ethical and environmentally responsible fashion.

Sales FAQ

How do Pre-Sales Work?

Pre-sale items are made-to-order and will take approximately 3 months to be delivered, with an estimated arrival by late June 2025. However, we may be able to ship earlier if production finishes ahead of schedule.

Your order helps us determine the demand for production, so please purchase only if you are committed.

Can I cancel my pre-sale order?

Yes, you have 72 hours (3 days) from the time of purchase to cancel your order for a full refund. After this period, your order will be placed in production, and cancellations will no longer be accepted.

Pre-Sale Order Exchange

Exchanges are only accepted if the item has a defect (manufacturing issues, damage, etc.). For more information on what qualifies as a defect, check our FAQ section.
If your item qualifies for an exchange, you have 30 days after receiving your order to request one. Exchanges are available for the same model and size only—we do not offer exchanges for different items or sizes.

Product FAQ

How can I find the right size?

We provide detailed size guides and reference images with multiple models to help you choose the right fit. Our sizes are based on actual women's sizes, not vanity sizes. For men's it will likely be a larger size, given that the garments are unisex.

Please double-check your size before purchasing, as returns for sizing issues are not accepted after the cancellation window.

What are the care recommendations for my UYC pieces?

You can find both composition and care labels inside your piece.

Across the board we recommend washing inside out in cold water (hand or machine), not using bleach, drying at low temperature if tumble drying, ironing at low temperature inside out. No dry cleaning.

Will my clothes shrink after the first wash?

We use 100% organic cotton fabrics to make your clothes, so some level of shrinkage is expected after the first wash. Our fabrics are pre-washed, meaning that the shrinkage you might experience after your first wash will be lower/minimal. Please follow the proper care instructions in the labels to prevent any severe shrinkage from happening.

What are the possible manufacturing defects?

Despite our manufacturing partner and ourselves having procedures in place for quality control, errors could occur. This is why we want you to know that you are covered in case we overlook something:

Fabric Defects

•  Holes or Tears – Any unintended holes, cuts, or rips in the fabric.

•  Snags or Pulls – Loose threads or pulled yarns that compromise fabric integrity.

•  Discoloration or Uneven Dyeing – Large patches of uneven color or unexpected stains not part of the design.

Seam & Stitching Issues

•  Unraveling Seams – Seams coming apart after minimal wear.

•  Open or Missed Stitches – Gaps in stitching that leave parts of the garment unsewn.

•  Asymmetrical Stitching – One side noticeably longer or misaligned due to incorrect stitching.

•  Loose or Hanging Threads – Excessively loose threads that indicate weak stitching.

Fit & Construction Flaws

•  Mismatched Panels or Sections – Fabric patterns or pieces sewn together incorrectly (e.g., asymmetrical body or sleeves when they should be even).

•  Uneven Sleeves, Legs, or Hemlines – One sleeve or pant leg is longer than the other.

•  Twisted or Skewed Fit – Fabric doesn’t sit properly due to incorrect grain alignment during cutting.

•  Non-Functional Pockets – Pockets sewn shut that were meant to be functional.

Hardware & Fastener Issues

•  Non-Functional Snaps or Hooks – Hardware that won’t fasten or detach easily.

•  Defective drawstring tips – Damaged or improperly fastened metal drawstring tips.

Printing & Embellishment Defects

•  Misaligned Screen Printing – Printed designs placed noticeably off-center (when not intended) or at the wrong angle.

•  Faded or Incomplete Print – Sections of a print missing or appearing too light in areas where they should be solid.

•  Screen Printing Stains – Visible stains or marks from application errors.

Label & Tag Issues

•  Incorrect or Missing Labels – Garments with the wrong size, material composition, or care instructions.

•  Sewn-Over Tags – Tags improperly sewn into seams, making them uncomfortable or unreadable.

---

Defects That Do Not Qualify (Acceptable Variations Due to Handmade or Sustainable Production)

•  Slight variations in stitching (e.g., small differences in seam width).

•  Minor color variations due to dyeing processes.

•  Fabric texture variations common in organic or recycled materials.

•  Natural fading over time with wear and washing.

•  Misalignment in woven patterns depends on garment size.
